TASTING NOTES Plum, blackberries and a mulberry lead. The dark fruits compliment the silky tannins and just a hint of leaf and tar peak. The flavors come together brilliantly for a luxurious taste. Rich mocha and black cherry linger on the palate. The tannins are soft and abundant.

REVIEWS 92 Points Palate Press - August 23, 2012
The nose is surprisingly understated, blackberries over a light aroma of vanilla. It is larger on the palate, offering up dark fruits cradled in silky tannins. Blackberries and mulberry lead, tobacco leaf and a hint of tar peak through on the mid-palate as the fruit takes a turn toward black cherry, followed by rich mocha that lingers on the finish. Tannins are soft but abundant. The mouth-feel is luxurious. Drink with local lamb. Highly Recommended (92). DH

Pretty good Cabernet, dry and very tannic, and rich in black currants and oak. It’s made in the modern style, and not likely to age, so drink up. — S.H.

Robert John Nowinski founded his namesake winery to showcase Napa Valley Cabernet. Nowinski and his winemaking team work with some of Napa's best recognized vineyards, including Stagecoach, Georges III and Rutherford Bench to produce hand-crafted wines. Based in Columbus, OH, the winery is currently offering a single Cabernet Sauvignon with plans underway for a second Cab and a Sauvignon Blanc. The 2009 Cabernet, the wine's inaugural bottling, is crafted from Georges III and Stage Coach vineyard fruit with a touch of Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc and Merlot blended in for structure and complexity. A young and still relatively tight wine, its aromas are light but interesting with notes of black fruit, caramel, rose petal, tobacco and spice. In the mouth its up front flavors are pure tart fruit with cranberry and pomegranate in prominence. There's a bit of a hole on the mid palate but flavors come on strong at the back where black currant harmonizes with herb and spice flavors. The earthier herbal notes are what linger on a respectably long finish. A big wine with a lot going on, it would be suited to simple yet burly foods like well-seasoned steaks and roasts.
